Quality Care for all the family
"It is vitally important to take care of your teeth and gums in between visits to the dentist and therapist. "
Here are a few tips to help you on your way!
-Use a toothbrush with a small head and medium textured nylon bristles
-Use a small amount of fluoride toothpaste
-Thoroughly brush for two minutes at least twice a day
-Remember to concentrate on the area where the teeth meet the gums
-Use Tepe brushes or floss to clean between teeth
-If necessary use disclosing tablets to highlight difficult areas
- Watch the number of sugary snacks and drinks you have between meals to reduce the chance of decay
Do a D.I.Y Gum Check
First brush your teeth thoroughly, looking in the mirror make sure the bristles get up to and over the gum margin. Now check your toothbrush, is there any blood??
Next look in the mirror, put your finger on the end of each tooth and try to move it, do any of your teeth move visibly? Can you chew hard food without difficulty?
Finally , have you noticed a bad taste or smell from your mouth? Ask your partner!!!
If you said YES to any of these questions its time to ask a dentist for some help and advice because you may have the signs of gum disease. The good news is that with regular maintenance therapy from your dentist and therapist these problems can be a thing of the past.
